Also.... check this out!  :-)

I have said over and over that now is the time to buy food.  Actually so have a lot of people, most of whom are far smarter than I am.  And I know that you don't have to buy it from me (along with the emergency supplies actually), but of course I'd love it if you did!  :-)  With all of the junk going on now, can you really afford not to have as much supplies prepared in advance as possible?

My Skill of the month... Learning to crochet.  I got started on this so late in August, that I might just count it as the Skill of the month (thinks to Lisa @ thesurvivalmom.com for the idea) for September.  Maybe quilting next?  Just in time for winter.  :-)

Besides my Mom, who is a very patient teacher and even gives me free supplies (thanks Mom!) ... this link from about.com has really been helpful in learning this hobby that I think would be very useful from a family preparedness standpoint.  :-)

72 hour kits for kids... a great idea!

I found this on howdoesshe.com and thought that it was great enough to share here...

Are you ready?  Are your kids?

Skill of the month from The Survival Mom.

Another great skill of the month from Lisa at http://thesurvivalmom.com!

Definitely the next skill I want to learn.  I even already have my first batch of fabric to make a quilt for one of my younger nieces.  :-)

Clyde's Garden Planner & A war on parental rights?

Definitely plan to make use of this come spring.  :-)

Found this on http://www.infowars.com and thought it should be shared...

Scary thought huh?

Off-Grid Self-Watering Container Gardening System: Free Buckets & Fall P...

Very simple to understand and hopefully to implement as well (I'll let you know if I try it & how it works). :-)  I really do want to try it.... Seems like a good way to keep your container garden producing for as long as possible.  I plan to also do the little sleeves out of the foil bubble wrap show in in the previous video (Off planet self insulating moon gardening system).  Thanks so much to LDSPrepper!

Off-Planet Self-Insulating Moon Gardening System

A pretty good idea... even if this guy was in a seriously silly mood when he made the video.  Too much sugar in his kool-aid I think... LOL!  ;-)  Definitely a cool idea though....now I'm just wondering what kinds of things would be good to plant in my fall garden.  Any ideas (especially from my Iowa & other midwestern friends)?
